Il mwhapolline delle mwhqspecie di questo genere è organizzato in tetradi che si agglutinano a formare dei piccoli ammassi globulari (mwhgpollinii) simili a quelli descritti nelle mwhwOrchidaceae. Inizialmente i pollinii giacciono liberi all'interno delle mwiaantere; dopo l'mwiqantesi sono esposti in strutture specializzate dette traslatori, costituite da una struttura di supporto a forma di cucchiaio munita di un disco adesivo, che aderisce agli mwiginsetti impollinatori. A corrected definition of distinction of the Periplocoideae will thus be: "pollen in tetrads or pollinia and adhering to spoon-shaped translators after anthesis".cite-ref-verhoeven-venter1998-3-0[3]cite-ref-verhoeven-venter2001-4-0[4]
